Sydney, Australia, 5 December 2024 – Australian telecommunications company, Astrotel, has launched the first IP Transit Over Cloud (IPTOC) service running on Alkira globally, which builds on the exclusive Asia Pacific partnership announced between the two organisations in September.
The Astrotel IPTOC service is available anywhere the major public cloud providers are available globally and provides IP Transit from as little as 0.3 USD cents per Megabyte of data, depending on the plan. Pricing is the same on all routes, domestic and international.
Additionally, following Astrotel’s new collaboration with the global platform for buying and selling connectivity, Connectbase, Astrotel IPTOC is available to organisations via the Connected World ecosystem.
“Alkira offers a transformative approach to building communications networks, and one of the use cases is as a cloud native IP Transit service, running entirely over the hyperscaler’s infrastructure. It is a new way to think about global telecommunications and is available at a fraction of the cost, set up in hours, connected anywhere in the world where the major cloud providers are available,” said Elizabeth Aris, Astrotel’s Founder.
“Advanced solutions like Alkira enable enterprises to manage their exponentially increasing global data requirements in a way that provides network performance, flexibility and security, with multi-cloud and multi-region redundancy”, added Aris. “Astrotel IPTOC can be connected from an existing router using IP Sec or from a Data Centre using AWS Direct Connect or the equivalent from Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform. No additional hardware is required.”
Astrotel provides several pricing plans for IPTOC for varying size clients, available for purchase on the Astrotel website and the Connected World platform. Customised plans and pricing are available on request.
Amir Khan, CEO of Alkira, said: “We’re delighted Astrotel is using Alkira’s network infrastructure platform to offer cloud-native IP transit service to organizations in Asia Pacific. It provides significant cost savings and is a new, innovative, secure, and elastic approach to moving data across regions. Our platform is designed to scale for cloud and non-cloud use cases, integrating directly into the hyperscaler cloud provider environments. It allows customers to deploy networks on demand and manage them more effectively without the need for additional hardware.”
Alkira is the first unified network infrastructure that integrates on-premises systems, multi-cloud environments, devices, applications, and users into a single, easily configurable platform. This set up is completed in hours, and securely routes data over the major hyperscalers’ backbone, bypassing traditional telco infrastructure.
